Typically when we work with Kathmandu, they’re sending us off to some far-flung corner of the world to shoot multiple wardrobes and talent – so to shoot this campaign – with one talent and one outfit, in our own backyard – was especially refreshing.
The creative concept was based on a technical visual effect treatment where our runner Jolene ‘catches up’ with herself, giving us a mechanism to present technical features on the garments she wears. Running from the city to the mountains helped illustrate the versatility of the outfit – we shot in Central Christchurch, New Brighton Beach, Arthur’s Pass and Castle Hill.
From Resonate’s side of the production, we achieved these shots with a very small crew; just Simon Waterhouse as Director/DP and Jono Smit as Camera Assist, with our inhouse RED Monstro, Sigma FF Cine Primes and our Movi Pro.
Our Melbourne based colleagues from Kathmandu found a new appreciation for what’s on Christchurch’s doorstep, noting that the grandeur of Canterbury’s landscape rival that of Queenstown (without another film crew in sight). The diversity and beauty of landscapes within 2 hours drive of Christchurch surprises even us sometimes!
