The client
When creative agency Strategy needed to shoot TV commercials for new client Ryman Healthcare’s recruitment arm, we were their first port of call.
Ryman Healthcare is one of New Zealand’s biggest employers. They employ 6,000 people and recruit 2,000+ people a year. They’re also one of New Zealand’s biggest construction companies because they build all their villages themselves.
Their challenge
Ryman’s recruitment team wanted to develop TV commercials speaking directly to construction workers and healthcare support staff.
From the start, Ryman were very clear on their strategic objective for these videos. They said we’ve got a strong recruitment process, but what we’re really interested in is attracting the right sort of people.
Our approach

Ryman village residents have a lifetime of experience, so who better to interview potential candidates? We follow two Ryman candidates through the day of their interview, as they undergo trials that show they’re Ryman people who go the extra mile.
Managing risk. Big TV commercials are major investments, so you need a video partner who’s got your back and can help you manage risk.
Coordinating complex production logistics. We’ve got your back, no matter how big your production. The Ryman shoot was vast, requiring storyboarding, casting, location scouting, and crew scheduling. We also coordinated a crack squad of contractors with gaffer, best boy, assistant camera, hair, MUA, wardrobe, and an art department.
